On 05/24/2026 around 1300 hours, Jared Urson Wheeler was last seen on the beach in the water located on Figure 8 Island of Wilmington, New Hanover County. Jared was on the beach with family/friends at the time he went missing. 911 was called within 10 minutes of Jared's family noting his absence and the Coast Guard and New Hanover County Sheriff's Office Marine United responded and conducted a search by water over the course of 24 hours with negative contact. Jared is described as having no tattoos and scarring between his legs. Jared may have on his wedding band and was last seen wearing dark colored swim trunks, possibly brown.
